We conduct a Family Medicine Residency, Internal Medicine Residency, Cardiology Fellowship, Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship, PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and a School of Radiologic Technology. MercyOne North Iowa is a clinical training site for approximately 500 students from 127 different colleges enrolled in programs for medical laboratory, nursing, paramedic, rehabilitation, medical assistants, pastoral services, physicians and many other medical fields.

Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Clinic RN at our MercyOne North Iowa Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy clinic

As a Clinic Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will be responsible for managing nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance, and restoration of patient's health and wellness within their scope of practice. The Clinic Registered Nurse will direct and support nursing/clinical personnel providing patient care within the facility as assigned by the Clinic Manager. This includes the evaluation, revision, and implementation of clinical policies and procedures related to the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care, maintenance of clinical staff personnel and education records, inservices and performs Clinical Staff functions.

Schedule:

  • Full time 40 hours a week
  • 8:00a-5:00p
  • No Weekends No Holidays

General Requirements:

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the area of nursing care as it relates to the ambulatory setting and age specific patient populations.
  • Coordinates daily clinic operations as they pertain to patient care.
  • Assists with recruitment, interviewing, evaluation, training, and serves as preceptor/mentor of clinical personnel as needed
  • Facilitates the clinical development of staff and assists in identifying staff education/in-service needs.
  • Monitors the staff competencies and helps to maintain adequate records (i.e., patient, staff, inservice/educational records, etc.).
  • Communicates and collaborates with staff/providers/clinic manager regarding operational issues, patient care concerns, policy/procedure issues and staffing on an ongoing basis. 
  • Helps to establish, maintain, and complies with clinical policies and procedures as they relate to clinical operations, regulatory standards, third party payers, and professional organizations. 
  • Takes a leadership role at clinical staff meetings as indicated by clinic manager.
  • Provides on-going educational support and training to clinical staff as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining department budget by ordering of supplies, minor equipment and capital equipment purchases.
  • Assists with counseling of employees and handling of complaints and clinical employee performance appraisals as assigned by Clinic Manager.
  • Supports Process Excellence concepts and continuous process improvements to ensure quality patient care and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Performs actions and duties of the clinic scribe; working as an integral member of the care team.
  • Assesses patient complaints and symptoms, implements appropriate nursing interventions, assists with plan for medical interventions, and assists in the evaluation process of planned interventions. Facilitates communication among all team members regarding the patient’s plan of care. Assists with provider's plan and evaluation of medical interventions.
  • Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations. 
  • Performs duties of Medical Assistant/Clinic Nurse as outlined in the Medical Assistant/Clinic Nurse job description.
  • Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development, and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs.
  • Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of MercyOne– North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy reflecting the organization’s Mission, Values, and Guiding Behaviors.
  • Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
  • Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head.

Education:

  • Graduate of a school of nursing is required.
  • A current Iowa License as a Registered Nurse is required. A current Minnesota License as a Registered Nurse may be required based on Department needs. Minnesota license must be current before working in a Minnesota location.
  • Six months of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred
  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.
