Job Description:

Climate Change Technical support

Coordinate with International CC specialist and Project team leader, the National Climate Change Specialist will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Climate Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis

  • Lead gender-responsive climate vulnerability assessments in the Dasidaro and Laclo watersheds, ensuring analysis reflects differentiated impacts on women, men, youth, and vulnerable groups.

  • Apply climate risk frameworks integrating hazard, exposure, and vulnerability analysis consistent with IPCC and CRIWDP methodologies.

  • Ensure climate assessments incorporate environmental, socio-economic, and livelihood dimensions.

  • Community Engagement and Participatory Processes

  • Facilitate community consultations, focus group discussions, and participatory workshops to capture local knowledge, traditional practices, and community perceptions of climate risks.

  • Promote inclusive participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in assessment and planning processes.

  • Support participatory validation of climate risk findings with local stakeholders.

  • Integration into CRIWDP Planning

  • Integrate climate vulnerability assessment findings into the Climate-Resilient Integrated Watershed Development Plans (CRIWDPs).

  • Provide technical guidance to ensure watershed development strategies strengthen: climate resilience, water security, sustainable land management, and ecosystem-based adaptation.

  • Ensure climate risk considerations are embedded across all CRIWDP outputs and planning stages.

  • Cross-Output Technical Contribution

  • Provide technical inputs across all CRIWDP Deliverable 1-5 (specially 3 and 4), ensuring coherence between analytical assessments, participatory planning, and implementation design.

  • Support development of climate-resilient recommendations and priority interventions

  • Coordination Support

  • Support coordination between WVTL and consortium partners (F-COTI, G-SIG, FHTL).

  • Support processing request provision, GEMS Concur and Payment request.

  • Participate in stakeholder consultations with NDCC and government institutions.

  • Assist in organizing technical discussions and inception workshops.

  • Support consolidation of partner inputs into planning documents.

 

Building Relationships

  • Build close and constructive relationships and actively learn within partner communities in order to understand their realities and facilitate development processes effectively.

  • Undertake social networks analysis in order to understand the functions various stakeholders fulfil, power dynamics, potential for partnership and capacity building needs.

  • Attend and participate in weekly chapel services and regular devotional meetings.

  • Support in hosting the visits of sponsors, donors, and WV staff from other.

Required Professional Experience

  • Previous experience in climate Change adaptation Project

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

  • Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock related programming experience.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and community development tools.

  • Understanding of climate change issues and how to do the Climate vulnerability assessment
