Job Description Summary:

The Client Support and Training Specialist is a full-time position in the Department of Pediatrics supporting programs that serve individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, their families, and service providers. The primary responsibility is delivering training on evidence-based practices, including behavior analysis, autism interventions, and strategies to address challenging behaviors.

This role supports multiple initiatives, including the Online and Applied System for Intervention Skills (OASIS) Training Program, development of train-the-trainer models, a statewide family resource center, and educational efforts focused on preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Responsibilities include preparing and delivering trainings, participating in clinical demonstrations, coordinating sessions, documenting outcomes, and assisting with grant-related and research activities.

Job Duties Outlined

  • Facilitate project activities such as in-person or virtual training, hands on skill demonstration, activity coordination, team meetings, and data collection.

  • Assist with data collection, data entry, data management, and other related tasks.

  • Coordinate training schedules across collaborators with supervisor and trainees; assist with standard office responsibilities (e.g. preparing materials, filing).

  • Complete assessments during baseline, post, and follow-up sessions.

  • Attend scheduled trainings and staff meetings.

  • Travel to rural areas of Kansas to provide education and hands on training to caregivers and providers to teach basic evidence-based practices.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience

  • Four (4) years relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Two (2) years’ experience working with children, children with disabilities.

  • Experience with public speaking or training peers and professionals.

  • Knowledge of basic evidence-based behavioral strategies and exposure to clinical settings as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: A Master’s degree.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year experience of training others in either clinical or professional settings).

  • Experience and/or understanding of scientific approaches to treatment such as the basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.

  • Experience conducting interventions or research with children, adolescents, or adults with autism (or related research projects).

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
