Why this role matters

The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and knowledge of the 20th & 21st Century art market. The Client Strategy & Object Intelligence Analyst will support the  20th & 21st Century Client Strategy Managers with client targeting, business-getting and strategic planning around sales. This role will additionally directly support the American Art, Photographs and Prints & Multiples departments by providing comprehensive research and enrichment of object records and translating that intelligence into actionable strategies.

The role consolidates information from internal and external sources to update digital records of key works, maintains core client and market lists, and supports specialists throughout the sale cycle from pre-sale targeting through post-sale debriefs. The ability to successfully analyze a high volume of data and complete complex tasks accurately is essential. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and experience in database management, synthesis of data and strategic planning.

How you'll make an impact

  • Conduct in-depth research on high-value works, consolidating provenance, ownership and market history from internal and external sources

  • Input and maintain object and market intelligence in Christie's databases with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail

  • Review and continually enrich object records, ensuring that knowledge generated by specialists and business-getters through valuations, cataloguing and client conversations is captured and actionable

  • Create bespoke reports on objects, artists and collections to support departmental sourcing and selling efforts

  • Track the wider market for these categories – competitor auctions, private sales, major museum and commercial exhibitions, art fairs and relevant literature and translate activity into actionable intelligence

  • Assist Client Strategy Managers with planning and conducting client reviews

  • Maintain Top Buyer, Top Collections, Wish Lists and other client lists as required by Client Strategy Managers

  • Manage and maintain market statistics for use in business-getting initiatives

  • Identify potential buyers by researching comparable past lots and relevant client behavior working with Heads of Sale and Client Strategy Managers

  • Assist in managing pre-sale interest meetings and prepare post-sale debriefs with a focus on strategic client & object insights

  • Become an expert and champion in Christie's Client & Object data systems

  • Work closely with the wider Client Strategy & Object Intelligence team globally on enrichment, sourcing and strategic initiatives as required

  What you’ll bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree (as a minimum) in art history or a relevant subject

  • Knowledge of and interest in 20th & 21st Century Art

  • Minimum 3 years works experience in the fine art industry; commercial art world experience preferred

  • Confident running working meetings with Specialists and senior internal keyholders

  • Able to present intelligence and analysis clearly and credibly to departmental leadership; comfortable contributing a point of view in senior-level discussions

  • Impeccable attention to detail; a precise, thorough and strategic researcher

  • Superior data analysis skills with a high level of accuracy in work

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Digitally fluent, with a strong track record of rapidly learning emerging technologies and resolving technical issues to maintain productivity

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work independently on long-term projects

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and diplomacy

Compensation Range

Salary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00
