The opportunity:
We are expanding our Non-Life Reinsurance team in Brussels and have an exciting opportunity available. This is your chance to join a growing, forward‑thinking team where collaboration, expertise, and innovation drive our success.

Your role:  
Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of the portfolio business plan​

  • Underwrite Reinsurance risks to meet business objectives including: negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for existing and new business​

  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines ​

  • Comply with Underwriting Authorities, legal and regulatory requirements, peer review and underwriting standards/best practices​

  • Comply with agreed aggregate management guidelines, including RDS returns as required​

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including customers, brokers, industry bodies, business partners, reinsurers, and colleagues, to maximise influence ​

  • Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness, specifically in your area(s) of expertise, to be able to operate effectively and appropriately​

  • Participate in all relevant meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice​

  • Maintain and develop expertise and team knowledge through identifying appropriate learning and development activities

  • Understand actuarial pricing models produced by actuaries and interpret their outputs to support underwriting decisions.

  • Perform some pricing analyses independently using tools and models developed by the actuarial team to ensure technical adequacy and profitability of risks.


About you:
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Non‑Life insurance or reinsurance; experience in reinsurance is a strong advantage.
• Solid understanding of underwriting principles, with the ability to negotiate rates, terms, and conditions effectively.
• Strong analytical mindset, capable of interpreting data, assessing risks, and contributing to portfolio planning.
• High level of numeracy and literacy, with excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong commercial acumen, with a genuine interest in developing market knowledge and commercial expertise.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities, enabling you to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail, while keeping a strategic, global view of the overall portfolio.
• High degree of autonomy, with creativity, a positive attitude, and an entrepreneurial mindset conducive to identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement.
• Proactive approach to learning and development, willing to stay up to date with market trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

•Fluency in English and one national language is required; additional European languages are an asset
