EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP : Just cause subject to probationary period
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under direction, plans, and supervises the work of the clerical staff. Supports and assists the Friend of the Court administration in maintaining efficient and compliant operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages, plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the work assignments of clerical support staff.
Participates in the interview and selection process for hiring clerical support staff. Monitors and evaluates the performance of the clerical support staff.
Assists in the counsel of other staff members as necessary.
Monitors and addresses staff to ensure departmental policies are adhered to.
Exercises considerable judgment in establishing or adapting work procedures to new situations.
Develops and provides training to clerical support staff.
Oversees imaging activities.
Serves as a liaison between the MiCSES and the Friend of the Court.
Serves as a liaison to other county departments, including Human Resources and Labor Relations, Finance, Information Technology, Facilities and Operations and Purchasing.
Approves purchase requisitions of office supplies and equipment.
Coordinates Facility and Operations work orders.
Assists in transferring cases from different counties.
Serves as the Local Options Administrator in the Michigan Child Support System.
Responds to requests from Judges, Judicial Service Officers, Referees and the general public as needed.
Assists in the budget process.
Maintains and approves payroll, attendance and vacation records.
Operates standard office equipment such as personal computers, facsimile machines, copiers, and calculators.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible clerical experience
Successful completion of the probationary period for the position of Clerical Services Supervisor
Preferred Education and Experience
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in business, Management or a directly related field from an accredited college or university
Previous Friend of the Court experience
Previous supervisory or management experience
Required Licenses or Certifications
Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
