As a Design Engineer in this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming innovative concepts into tangible realities. Your day-to-day tasks will involve a blend of creativity and analytical prowess, as you work to convert design requirements into detailed models and prototypes. You will be expected to apply your deep understanding of engineering principles while utilizing advanced CAD software to create both 2D and 3D designs. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams, including clients, product managers, and fellow engineers, will be crucial in understanding the nuances of design specifications. Your role is not just about drafting designs; it's about pioneering solutions that are functional, efficient, and manufacturable. Your toolkit will include a variety of CAD programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CATIA, which you will use to bring your innovative design concepts to life. You will also engage in rigorous engineering calculations and analyses to validate the feasibility and performance of your designs. Prototyping and testing will be a significant part of your process, allowing you to refine usability and functionality. Material selection and manufacturing process decisions will fall under your purview, ensuring that your designs are not only effective but also cost-efficient. To excel in this role, you should have a track record of problem-solving and innovation in engineering. Experience with design reviews, technical support, and ensuring compliance with industry standards will be invaluable. Your ability to research and stay abreast of new design technologies and methodologies will keep you at the cutting edge of the field. Your contribution will not only be in the designs you create but also in the continuous improvement of design processes and best practices within the organization.

 

The work:

  • You will be responsible for creating and managing detailed design documentation, which is essential for maintaining the integrity and consistency of the design process.
  • Collaborate with clients, product managers, and other engineers to understand design requirements and specifications.
  • Research and analyze technical data, customer needs, and market trends to inform design decisions.
  • Develop innovative and practical design concepts and solutions using engineering principles.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA).
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses (e.g., stress, load, thermal) to ensure design feasibility and performance.
  • Develop and test prototypes to evaluate design functionality, usability, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design requirements, cost, and performance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Conduct design reviews with stakeholders and incorporate feedback into the design process.
  • Analyze and resolve design-related issues and provide technical support during the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Continuously research and evaluate new design technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to the improvement of design processes and best practices.

 

Here’s what you need:

  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Experience with data visualization and/or dashboards
  • Experience with Storyboards or Wireframes
  • Experience with User Experience (UX), User Research or Persona Creation

 

Security Clearance:

  • Active Top Secret clearance

 

 

As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Vermont, the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland. The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
