Your new role
You will lead and support the day‑to‑day activities of the Commercial Property and Marine Claims team, providing guidance on claims management, policy interpretation, quality, and risk‑appropriate decision‑making. You will play a key role in developing capability within the team while ensuring strong customer and broker outcomes across both portfolios.
Other aspects of your role will include:
- Coach, mentor, and manage a team of experienced Commercial Property and Marine Claims Specialists, fostering capability, confidence, and accountability.
- Support the implementation and ongoing delivery of claims management strategies and business objectives for the Commercial Property & Marine portfolios.
- Provide oversight of the management and settlement of Commercial Property and Marine claims, intervening in complex, high‑risk, or escalated matters as required.
- Promote proactive claims management and customer‑focused solutions aligned to QBE’s claims philosophy.
- Encourage and monitor compliance with approved claims management plans, delegated authorities, and governance requirements.
- Review and manage complex or problematic Commercial Property and Marine claims, while actively extending settlement authority and decision‑making to team members as capability allows.
- Plan, manage, and review team performance through quality assurance outcomes, regular feedback, and the annual performance review process.
About you
As a natural leader and organiser, you enjoy supporting and developing your team and getting the best outcomes for the business. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing team volumes you will have experience with:
- Mentoring or leading similar sized teams, raising team morale & capability.
- Exposure to disputes and complaints with the ability negotiate and influence.
- Comfortable with being the escalation point for the property team.
- Confident with Broker relationships and able to represent QBE
