P2026CORP016 - Claim Specialist Subrogation

AXIS is seeking a Subrogation Claims Specialist to join our North America Claims team and support the continued expansion of AXIS’ recovery operations.  The successful Candidate will manage an inventory of moderate to high‑complexity subrogation claims, ensuring timely identification of recovery opportunities, thorough investigation, accurate liability assessment, and effective pursuit of recovery from responsible parties and insurers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


• Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines.    
• Reviews claim files to identify, evaluate, analyze, and interpret subrogation potential.
• Is responsible for subrogation activities including the identification and research of subrogation claims.
• Identifies legal liability and pursues, negotiates, and settles claims where subrogation is identified.
• Coordinates appropriate steps to secure evidence and ensure pursuit, development, and recovery of claims.  
• Interacts with policyholders, claimants, and witnesses to recommend and document the necessary information to move forward with subrogation or close a file.
• Assists claim handlers during the life of the claim file to request the necessary information needed to pursue subrogation.
• Works closely with our TPA and MGA’s to ensure that all avenues of subrogation are identified and pursued.
• May provide guidance and assistance to less experienced claims staff and TPA’s.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Advanced technical and product specific expertise, claims resolution skill and knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

• Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or minimum 5-7 years of equivalent claims handling/underwriting experience in lieu of degree

• Valid licenses by state as required and add states to certifications as needed

•  Experience or exposure to handling commercial Property claims on behalf of a syndicate, insurance company, broker, loss adjuster or solicitor preferred

Role Factors

Preferred candidates will be able to commute to an AXIS office. We are a hybrid work environment, in office 3 days a week.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $90,000.00 to $100,000.00(GA). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
