Claims Specialist, APD

Temporary position for 7 months


An APD Claim Specialist's primary responsibility is to coach Claim Advisors towards becoming more independent, resourceful, and autonomous. Claim Specialists are expected to be proficient in technical matters, coupled with an ability to meaningfully engage Claim Advisors through effective coaching interactions. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Coach claims advisors on the application of various insurance contracts and ensure that they are adhering to the company's policies, procedures and best practices.

  • Help claims advisors develop their technical skills.

  • Analyze and approve claims settlements. 

  • Conduct research and serve as resource person, proposing solutions to conflicts and situations outside the claims advisor’s scope of authority.

  • Foster a positive working partnership with CRC Section Managers, and complementing their objectives to develop our Claim Advisors.

  • Engage with stakeholders throughout the operations such as SIU, Underwriting, and Agency, in the day-to-day management of individual claim files.

  • handle a limited inventory of their own files occasionally, in order to remain technically sharp and as a means of assisting the operations.

  • Participate in compliance activities such as call monitoring and claim audits.

What you bring to the table

  • College diploma in a related field

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience
