Key Responsibilities

As a Claim Adjuster, you will play a critical role in managing claims across Maersk’s Logistics and Services business by ensuring timely, accurate, and fair resolution.

  • Manage and coordinate all activities related to the claims lifecycle, from receipt through investigation, settlement, and closure
  • Engage directly with internal and external stakeholders, including operations, legal, insurance partners, and claimants, to ensure efficient resolution
  • Create, maintain, and audit claim files in accordance with company best practices, governance standards, and audit requirements
  • Review and interpret contractual terms and obligations to assess claim merits and liability exposure
  • Conduct direct settlement negotiations with claimants and coordinate the execution of general releases, claim payments, and system closure
  • Support global legal teams by gathering and organizing internal and external information for lawsuits or other legal proceedings
  • Identify root causes of claims and contribute insights that support loss prevention, process improvements, and risk mitigation
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures related to claims processes with guidance from your direct manager
  • Support senior members of the NAM Regional Claims Hub with claim payments, vendor invoices, and ad hoc projects as required

What We Are Looking For

Continuous improvement mindset:
We are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to strengthen processes, data quality, and outcomes over time.

In addition, you bring:

  • 3–5 years of experience within the maritime, logistics, or transportation industry
  • Experience in cargo claims handling, subrogation, loss prevention, or legal support (preferred)
  • Strong problem‑solving, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills
  • Clear, confident communication skills across written, verbal, and stakeholder interactions
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • A customer‑ and solutions‑focused mindset, with the judgment to know when direct engagement adds value
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows‑based systems; experience with claims management systems is an advantage
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish) strongly preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Domestic travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: 65,00.00 to 75,000.00
