Civil Track Engineer

Our KBR Civil team is a group of passionate and experienced transport specialists who have an opportunity for a Civil Track Engineer to join our team in Perth.

Reporting to the Civil Team Leader you will contribute to the delivery of a variety of transport infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, specification, and provision of engineering services for rail transportation systems, including permanent way, track structure, and associated civil works. You will work under general supervision as a technical specialist, applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to deliver high-quality solutions.

As part of your role, you will support Perth-based projects while also contributing to other locations nationally as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with technical and quality assurance standards.

  • Develop complex rail track engineering tasks and designs from concept through to detailed design level.

  • Prepare and check horizontal and vertical rail alignment designs, earthworks modelling, and track drainage designs.

  • Create and review rail alignment, formation, and earthworks drawings.

  • Conduct and validate calculations using both manual methods and computer applications.

  • Prepare and review reports and technical specifications.

  • Provide design solutions in collaboration with other disciplines in the transport sector, such as road design, drainage design, and structural design.

  • Ensure documentation is technically sound and easily understood.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, designers, and drafters in model and design preparation.

  • Deliver complex work within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Engage with peers, team members, clients, suppliers, statutory authorities, and other consultants.

  • Manage small projects and proposals or oversee work packages on larger projects.

Skills & Experience Required:

As an individual you are excited by the prospect of delivering iconic projects to the community and you will have a proven background in major transport infrastructure projects.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • On the pathway to obtaining CPEng and RPEQ (or equivalents) within 3 years.

  • On the pathway to obtaining designer competencies for track and civil engineering or equivalents within 6 months.

  • Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD and Bentley OpenRail; experience with 12D is advantageous.

  • Strong ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate information and modelling results.

  • Exposure to business development and marketing activities is desirable.

  • Keen interest in continuous improvement of technical knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to manage project and proposal work package budgets effectively.

  • Previous consulting, design, or technical experience in infrastructure projects as a Track & Civil Engineer.

  • Proven experience on PTA projects or understanding of PTA EM4P procedures, standards and specifications.

  • Experience in working with ARC infrastructure, ARTC, freight rail etc.
