The Hunter Valley Tailings Upgrade Project will commence execution in Q2 2026 and aims to upgrade current CHPP tailings handling and storage capacity by constructing a pump station, pipelines and required infrastructure. The project will encompass all civil, concrete, mechanical, structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation upgrades required to complete the project for handover to the operational team.
The Hunter Valley Tailings Project is seeking a suitably experienced and highly motivated Civil Engineer with supervisory experience to join our team. Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, you will be an integral member of the team and drive high performance with an expectation of safety and cost-effective project delivery. This is a full-time permanent role.
You will possess strong leadership skills and demonstrated success in leading teams and meeting work management key performance indicators. You will be responsible for the direct supervision of the contract civil construction team to safely deliver the project plan. Supported by the Civil Area Manager, the project and the contractor’s teams, your core function will be to supervise and support the construction of all bulk earthworks and civil aspects of the construction focussing on a new pump station foundations, containment sumps, pipe bridge, and pipe alignments and underbores.
You will deliver against agreed targets and schedules, while ensuring that all tasks are completed in a safe and efficient manner. This will involve assisting with planning and scheduling, as well as management of contractor crews.
To succeed in this role, you be self-motivated with a strong focus on leadership outcomes, compliance, accountability and delivering a positive performance culture. You will have demonstrated a strong commitment to safety, risk management processes and continuous improvement. Your strong organisational skills and attention to detail will ensure you are an exceptional team leader and mentor to others.
Supervisory experience in a mining environment will be highly regarded. A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) is preferred or a tertiary education in Civil Engineering. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil engineering fulfilling a similar mine-related large project role.
