STV is actively seeking a Civil/Roadway Engineering Specialist to join our growing Transportation Group in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role offers the opportunity to support a wide range of roadway, highway, and transit projects, working alongside experienced engineers and project managers on impactful infrastructure initiatives across Tennessee and the Southeast.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical design work, collaborative problem-solving, and growing their career within a respected, employee-owned firm.
Assist in the preparation of roadway and transportation construction drawings, plans, and specifications in accordance with applicable standards and agency requirements
Support roadway design tasks including geometry, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and drainage elements
Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables, ensuring clarity and accuracy of project information
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure designs meet project scope, schedule, and quality objectives
Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to assigned tasks
Support quality control reviews and ensure compliance with accepted engineering practices and applicable codes
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Experience using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Experience with TDOT roadway or transportation projects
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / FE certification or ability to obtain
Knowledge of roadway and infrastructure design and construction processes
