Job Description Summary

The Cisco Technician is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) within a secure environment. This role involves configuring, monitoring, repairing, and testing Cisco networking devices and Fortinet firewalls to ensure optimal network performance and security. The technician will support synthetic training events, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain compliance with Defence ICT standards.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of Cisco networking concepts and technologies.
  • Proficiency in Cisco operating systems (IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (VLANs, IP addressing, routing & switching).
  • Experience with Fortinet firewall configuration and management.
  • Skilled in network performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Ability to work under strict security protocols and in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and training.
  • Proven knowledge of WAN functions and network/data protocols.
  • Diploma in Computer Science or Diploma in Information Technology (IT); and
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience configuring and supporting Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
