Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is currently investing in significant upgrades to the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant.
Reporting to the CHPP Manager, you will lead, develop and mentor a team of engineers, maintenance planners, supervisors, tradespeople, and contractors in delivering and executing the maintenance strategy on site.
About The Role:
As CHPP Maintenance Superintendent, you will:
Oversee all aspects of CHPP mechanical and electrical maintenance, including shutdown planning, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and execute proactive maintenance plans to minimise downtime and extend plant life.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, planners and supervisors, promoting a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
Manage budgets, contractor performance, and long-term asset integrity strategies.
Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to identify and deliver reliability improvements.
Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental obligations.
About You:
Trade or Engineering qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or related disciplines.
Extensive supervisory experience within a coal handling prep plant.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
A proven track record in preventative maintenance, shutdown execution, and cost control.
Relevant Coal Mining Competencies (RIIRIS301, RIICOM301, RIIWHS301, RIIRIS402) would be highly recommended.
SAP and Xeras experience is desirable.
Strong safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance focus.
