Job scope and team:
This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the rapid growth of our AirTech division, such as extending beyond cost-saving measures by leading sourcing initiatives and managing potential risks to drive value creation for our business areas alongside his team.
Main areas of responsibility (max 7):
Lead and develop the Strategic Sourcing team in China, including performance management, talent development, and retention of key talents to build a cohesive team following the integration of sourcing and buying functions, with potential coordination of sourcing activities in Japan and Korea.
Drive sourcing and category strategies in China in alignment with global and APAC sourcing, sustainability, and compliance frameworks.
Build and manage a compliant and competitive supplier base in China, including supplier selection, qualification, audits, development, and performance management in accordance with Munters and regulatory requirements. Establish and enforce transparent procurement processes (e.g., segregation of duties, four-eyes principle for key decisions) to safeguard integrity and mitigate compliance risks across the team.
Lead commercial negotiations and contract management to achieve total cost competitiveness across the product lifecycle while ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance.
Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to identify critical components, mitigate supply risks, and support localization, product transfer, and industrialization activities.
Initiate and lead cross-functional cost improvement, value engineering, and supplier innovation programs.
Strengthen sourcing governance, processes, and capability development across the China organization in alignment with APAC and global standards.
Most relevant qualifications, education, and training:
Bachelor's degree is required in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical or business discipline. A master's degree is preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree for exceptional candidates.
Most relevant previous work experience:
At least ten (10) years of sourcing and engineering experience in an international multicultural organization that manufactures large industrial equipment.
Experience in S&OE and S&OP planning and execution.
Having directly led teams of 10 or more staff members. Experience in leading remote teams will be a plus.
Required language skills:
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English required.
Working proficiency in Mandarin strongly preferred; ability to operate effectively within the China supplier environment is essential.
Additional Asian language skills (e.g., Korean or Japanese) are an advantage.
Required travel days (a span) per month or year:
Frequent travels; 30%-50%;
Other relevant requirements or conditions:
Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost analysis methodologies (e.g., should-costing, value engineering).
Good understanding of Lean Management Systems.
Strong time management skills, including the ability to work towards and hit deadlines, including assigned and self-imposed deadlines.
Ability to develop and manage relationships with key suppliers & business executives.
Experience in developing cost and financial models.
Highly proficient with MS Office applications.
Proven ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Experience in working with IFS, SAP, or any other ERP system.
