We believe that the act of making should be meaningful and fulfilling, done with intention and precision. Fellow makes beautifully functional tools for any kitchen, designed in San Francisco and used around the world. When the simple motions of life become small moments of joy, that's Everyday Magic.™
Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the Chief Product Officer will build a world-class product organization and elevate hardware, firmware, and software capabilities. This leader will have the opportunity to deliver iconic, high-performance products that deepen customer loyalty and expand Fellow’s global footprint.
This role is based in our office in San Francisco, CA.
The Chief Product Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping Fellow’s next chapter as it evolves from a category-defining coffee brand into a broader design-led kitchen platform. This executive will set and execute a bold, multi-year product and technology strategy that extends Fellow’s leadership in kettles and grinders into espresso, and new premium kitchen categories.
By building a world-class product organization and elevating hardware, firmware, and software capabilities, this leader will have the opportunity to redefine what the future of Fellow looks like by delivering iconic, high-performance products that deepen customer loyalty and expand Fellow’s global footprint.
Key responsibilities
- Define and articulate a multi-year product and technology vision that cements Fellow's future, expanding from coffee into espresso, and adjacent premium kitchen categories.
- Own the full product lifecycle across hardware and software; from customer insight, ideation, and R&D through contract manufacturing, launch, and in-market optimization; ensuring every product meets a high bar for design, performance, and reliability.
- Build and lead a world-class product organization, formalizing product management as a discipline and unifying industrial design, mechanical engineering, and firmware/software into a cohesive, execution-focused team.
- Partner closely with Operations, Finance, and commercial leaders to align roadmap, capacity, planning, and logistics decisions with growth, margin, and brand objectives, particularly for complex global contract-manufacturing programs.
- Act as the steward for 0-1 products, owning portfolio strategy, positioning, and go-to-market in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Retail to maximize adoption and long-term commercial impact.
- Elevate Fellow’s firmware and software capabilities by managing and mentoring the engineering teams responsible for connected and digital experiences, ensuring tight integration between physical products, software, and ongoing feature innovation.
- Establish product practices, rituals, and metrics that drive data-informed, customer-obsessed decision-making; testing, learning, and iterating quickly while protecting brand equity and design standards.
- Represent the product function at the executive level, communicating priorities, tradeoffs, and progress to the leadership team and board, and serving as a visible culture carrier for innovation, craftsmanship, and accountability.
Professional Qualifications
- Extensive experience leading product, hardware, and technology organizations in consumer products, ideally at the intersection of industrial design, engineering, and connected devices.
- Demonstrated success managing end-to-end product lifecycles; from insight, ideation, and R&D through contract manufacturing, launch, and in-market optimization for design-forward, high-performance physical products.
- Proven track record building and scaling high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams with a culture of accountability, executional excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Strong background working with global contract manufacturing partners, with a nuanced understanding of quality, reliability, cost, and supply dynamics in complex hardware programs.
- Highly collaborative leader, skilled at building trusted relationships with Engineering, Design, Operations, Marketing, Commercial, and Finance, and aligning diverse stakeholders around clear product and portfolio priorities.
- Seasoned executive with the ability to influence, inspire, and build consensus at the board, executive, and cross-functional levels, while also rolling up sleeves and engaging deeply in product and technical details when needed.
- Deeply customer- and data-driven, with disciplined approaches to prioritization, experimentation, and measurement of product impact across both physical and digital experiences.
- Ideally brings experience in premium consumer brands and/or small appliances, with a passion for coffee, kitchen, or adjacent lifestyle categories and an instinct for marrying form, function, and brand.
