Chief Operating Officer
Position Overview
A well-established, mission-focused organization dedicated to expanding homeownership opportunities and strengthening communities across Los Angeles County is seeking a highly effective Chief Operating Officer (COO). This executive will play a pivotal role in translating strategic priorities into coordinated, day-to-day execution across a complex, multi-entity organization.
The COO will partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure operational excellence, financial stewardship, and organizational alignment. Key Responsibilities of the Chief Operating Officer
- Drive execution of the organization’s multi-year strategic plan by translating priorities into clear, actionable operating goals and ensuring alignment across all departments
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple affiliated entities, including lending and real estate-related functions, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and strong performance
- Lead enterprise-wide financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and oversight of a portfolio and working in close partnership with finance leadership
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, with a particular focus on scaling lending activities and strengthening core business functions
- Build and refine internal systems, workflows, and controls to support growth, improve decision-making, and ensure organizational discipline
- Establish and enhance reporting structures to meet leadership needs and external funder requirements, addressing current gaps in data and performance tracking
- Serve as a central integrator across teams, improving cross-functional communication, coordination, and accountability
- Provide leadership and guidance to department heads, clarifying roles, strengthening execution, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
- Lead organizational change initiatives, introducing structure and process improvements while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness
- Ensure alignment between programmatic efforts and operational capacity to support increased homeownership outcomes and long-term impact
Qualifications of the Chief Operating Office
- At least 10+ years of experience in operations, ideally within a complex, multi-entity or mission-driven organization
- Proven track record of executing strategy, improving systems, and driving organizational performance
- Strong financial acumen with experience overseeing large budgets and multiple business lines
- Demonstrated success building and optimizing operational infrastructure, including systems and reporting
- Skilled in leading teams through change and fostering cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
