HP is seeking a Chief of staff (CoS) for the Global Sustainable Impact & Compliance team.  Sustainability is one of HP’s strategic priorities and has become a strategic growth engine for the company – growing from $1B in sales influenced by Sustainable Impact in 2019, to over $3.5B in 2021 (a 3x growth in 3 years).  If you want to make a meaningful difference in business results, the communities we serve, and on the world around us, this is the team for you. In this role, you will work side by side with the leadership team to drive an effective operational cadence across the organization including strategic alignment and direction of the business. Additionally, the CoS will lead both ad hoc and strategic projects on an as-needed basis – anything that is needed to keep the organization running smoothly and to ensure the team is working towards the same objectives/outcomes. Specifically, we are looking for a strong leader that can manage/direct while proactively building program management and executional capability in others.

The CoS will lead initiatives and manage programs that encompass quarterly business reviews, recruiting processes, employee engagement initiatives and planning. Critical to your success is the ability to flex across both strategic and operational initiatives and build effective bridges through strong partnerships and communication skills. You will work closely with the Chief Sustainability Officer in leading key business deliverables and ensure optimal staff efficiency and effectiveness. This is a highly dynamic role that serves as a trusted go-to leader to get things done and works effectively across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Set the vision -- define, implement, and manage an on-going operating cadence across a very diverse and broad organization with unique work streams.  Lead staff meetings, conduct executive reviews (routine ELT and Board meetings), strategic projects, etc.
  • Track metrics and progress against key priorities
  • Drive high-impact, cross-functional initiatives to optimize business results; applies financial expertise and acumen to all day-to-day work (our Sustainability results are highly visible internally and externally – accuracy and rigor are critical)
  • Partner with the Chief Sustainability Officer to lead/present at key executive meetings and external events (Government Agencies, Shareholder meetings, NGO’s, Industry Partners, and many of HP’s Largest Customers)
  • Drive continuous improvement of operational processes in a high-performance organization.
  • Create an inclusive environment - build and lead an effective organization (275+ and growing) through facilitation of staff meetings, close collaboration and alignment across the team.
  • Develop business agendas with guidance and proposes solutions when conditions change.
  • Ability to thrive within a global team -- diverse cultures, multiple time zones, and broad scope (Product Stewardship, Technical Regulations, Human Rights & Sustainable Sourcing, Market Access & Customer Engagement, Climate Action, and Digital Equity)
  • Excels in a hybrid environment both in-person and remote.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across multiple functions/BUs to build financially-sound, executable, data-driven action plans.
  • Accountability for a robust and proactive organizational staffing plan -- partnering closely with HR to create an exciting/fun organizational culture, with world class employee engagement as we make SI&C the best place to work.
  • Key leader for employee engagement, recognition, and rewards overseeing the team goals, including site activity tracking, organization engagement plan, and employee engagement analysis.

Education and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering/Business/Marketing/Communications, or equivalent.
  • 12+ years’ work experience in business or technical operations, general business, or marketing.  Prior strategic program management or BPM experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, analysis, problem solving skills, process orientation, and business acumen skills.
  • Ability to summarize abstract ideas clearly and independently manage objectives.
  • Proven project/ program leadership (e.g., leading cross-functional initiatives with significant impact for the organization)
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to develop strong relationships across organizations.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including team building, conflict resolution, and management.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including advanced negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.
  • Ability to manage human capital in a virtual and global environment to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.

Salary

The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
