SUMMARY:
This position serves as the senior nursing executive for Extended Care and a key member of the Rochester Regional Health Nursing Executive Leadership team. The role provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for all nursing and patient/resident care services within their scope. This role is accountable for advancing nursing excellence, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving outcomes in quality, safety, patient experience, and workforce engagement. This leader partners closely with executive, medical, and operational partners to translate system strategy into local execution—ensuring consistent, high-quality, patient-centered care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Serve as the senior nursing executive for the assigned site or entity, providing leadership for the direction, performance, and outcomes of nursing and patient care services.
Partner with the local executive team (President, COO, CMO, etc.) to shape and execute strategic priorities that advance quality, safety, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
Represent nursing on the site’s executive leadership team, ensuring nursing perspectives inform key decisions.
Align local nursing operations with RRH system priorities, standards, and governance structures to promote consistency in practice and performance.
Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, visibility, and compassion across all levels of care.
Collaborate with Medical Staff leaders, committees, and system executives on long-term operational planning, strategic initiatives, and human resource management.
Clinical Excellence, Quality & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., DNV, CMS, OMH, DOH).
Maintain continuous survey readiness through effective oversight of documentation, policies, and clinical practices.
Lead initiatives that enhance quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes using evidence-based practices and performance improvement methodologies.
Partner with quality and medical leadership to assess outcomes, identify trends, and implement corrective action plans.
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning within nursing and patient care teams.
People & Culture
Build and sustain a culture of trust, engagement, respect, and professional excellence across the nursing workforce.
Recruit, develop, and mentor nursing leadership, supporting succession planning and leadership readiness.
Champion ongoing professional development, education, certifications, and career advancement for nurses at all levels.
Advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the workforce and patient care environment.
Recognize and celebrate nursing team contributions, reinforcing organizational values and a culture of compassion.
Fiscal & Resource Management
Oversee daily operations of nursing and patient care departments to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, optimizing labor, productivity, and resource utilization.
Collaborate with finance and operations leaders to achieve cost-effective outcomes while preserving quality and patient experience.
Evaluate and implement clinical technologies and workflow innovations that enhance care delivery and workforce efficiency.
Leverage data and analytics to guide decision-making and support continuous improvement initiatives.
System & Community Partnerships
Serve as an active member of the RRH CNO Council to support systemwide standardization and collaboration.
Partner with system nursing leadership to align local operations with enterprise-wide strategies and initiatives.
Represent nursing in local, regional, and system forums to promote shared accountability and collective success.
Build relationships with academic and community organizations to support education, clinical placements, research, and workforce pipeline development.
Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal and professional development by staying current with emerging trends and innovations in nursing and healthcare.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required.
Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
Obtain ANCC – Nurse Executive or Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification within 1 year of appointment to the CNO Position required.
5+ years of progressive nursing executive leadership experience in an acute care or integrated health system required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate (DNP, PhD, or EdD) preferred.
Demonstrated success leading organizational change, workforce engagement, and quality improvement initiatives.
Experience in fiscal management, strategic planning, and operational oversight.

$150,000.00 - $225,000.00CITY:

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
