Chief Engineer - Battle Management

As a Chief Engineer (CE) at MORSE, you play a technical, strategic, programmatic, and management role driving our programs, people, and path forward. You will spearhead technical vision, work with customers to plot out the future efforts, and guide a team to execute. As a Chief Engineer - Battle Management, you will lead the design and development of mission-critical web and mobile applications that fuse complex data, enhance situational awareness, and accelerate the entire decision-making cycle—from planning to execution. 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Define and champion the technical vision for our Battle Management systems, creating a roadmap that integrates advanced software architecture, data fusion, and intelligent user interfaces.
  • Lead Agile, multi-disciplinary teams of 5-50+ Aerospace Engineers, Software Engineers, Mobile Developers, Human-Computer Interaction Engineers, and Cloud Engineers.

  • Lead technical strategy for the development of intuitive software applications that make complex data readily available and actionable for warfighters in high-stakes environments with care for effective user experiences (UX) 
  • Manage program execution, ensuring schedule and budget adherence, and overseeing successful program delivery.

  • Act as a primary technical liaison with government customers and industry partners, translating their strategic needs into actionable, cutting-edge R&D programs.

  • Proactively identify and shape new opportunities, lead technical proposal efforts, and own the capture process to expand MORSE's impact and portfolio in Battle Management, Command and Control (C2), and Mission Planning.

Requirements:

  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance. Active Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI is preferred. 

  • A master's degree or PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics) or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of experience leading technical teams, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex, software-intensive systems for the defense or aerospace industry.

  • Deep, hands-on experience designing architectures for complex, real-time distributed systems, such as Command and Control (C2), mission planning, or large-scale situational awareness platforms.

    Strong domain knowledge in one or more of the following: sensor fusion, mission planning, electronic warfare, or air/space operations

  • Demonstrated understanding of underlying physical principles relevant to the domain (e.g., kinematics, sensor physics, RF propagation) and experience incorporating physical models into software systems.

  • Proven leadership in modern software development, including service-oriented architectures, event-driven systems, and building applications for real-time data visualization.

  • Proven leadership skills, with a track record of successfully managing high-performing technical teams.

  • Proven experience in business development and program capture within the DoD or IC, including leading technical volumes for proposals and shaping customer requirements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to absorb complex technical information quickly.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

MORSE Corp’s salary range for this role carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to, prior experience, education, skills and expertise, location, internal equity, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need. Therefore, final offer amounts may vary from the amount stated. Depending on role eligibility, total compensation may also include bonus, stock, 401(k) match, paid time off, medical, dental, vision and life insurance.

Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year. MORSE maintains an “open” leave policy that does not restrict exempt, regular full-time employees to a specific number of paid sick or vacation days. However, this policy is not an “unlimited” paid leave policy.

$120,000$250,000 USD
