ABOUT THE ROLE
CoStar Group is seeking a Chief Economist, Canada to develop and implement data-driven thought leadership and commentary focused on the Canadian commercial real estate sector and the broader Canadian economy. The Chief Economist for Canada will play a key role as the industry-facing representative of CoStar, responsible for delivering CoStar’s view and outlook on the commercial real estate market and the economy.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive commercial real estate experience with the quantitative and qualitative abilities to craft a sophisticated house view of the themes relevant to commercial real estate, including CoStar’s forecasts, both nationally and at the regional level. The individual will have specific knowledge of commercial real estate capital markets, asset class performance, and factors impacting supply and demand fundamentals. The position will also coordinate the production of all analytical content in Canada, including national, market, and submarket-level written narratives, regular news stories, and presentation content. The Chief Economist, Canada will work closely with CoStar marketing to provide data-driven commentary to national and regional media organizations.
This role will be based in one of CoStar Group's offices, including Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Produce timely, relevant, and insightful analysis of economic and real estate market conditions for inclusion in CoStar’s product offering. Content will take various forms, including:
Written narratives in CoStar’s market and sub-market reports
News articles
Presentation content
Interactions and discussions with CoStar customers
Personally maintain national-level content, including property-type specific reports and news articles
Represent CoStar at industry events
Support sales and marketing efforts in Canada, and serve as a key client contact
Work with CoStar research to ensure CoStar data accurately reflects market trends
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
10+ years of work experience in Canadian commercial real estate
Understanding of economic theory, principles, and their application across the real estate industry
Demonstrated writing skills
Strong data and analysis skills
Polished presentation skills
Proactive and solutions-focused client orientation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Fluency in French is strongly preferred
Advanced degree in related field
Familiarity with SQL programming

This position offers a base pay range of $200,000 - $230,000 CAD based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous commission and benefits plan.
