Major Duties:
- The United States Space Force (USSF) at Patrick SFB/Cape Canaveral SFS, Florida is searching for a Chief Architect for the LTRS Program to support SYD 80/AR (NH-0855-04, GS-14/15 equivalent). Description: Are you a senior architect ready to shape the future of space launch and test capabilities? The USSF Launch and Test Range Systems Program Office is seeking a Program Office Chief Architect to serve as a key technical leader supporting the Program's Chief Engineer. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing the system architecture for a critical sustainment program while also leading the mission engineering effort for a new, cutting-edge capabilities office. In this dynamic role, you will translate the Chief Engineer's technical vision into a robust and resilient architectural framework, guiding a high-performing team to success. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and the ability to develop and manage complex system architectures that align with the Chief Engineer's technical vision and long-term program goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, able to pivot from the architectural needs of a sustainment program to the mission engineering challenges of a new capabilities office. As a supervisor, they must guide, influence, and develop a team of engineers, ensuring architectural integrity and alignment with the program's technical baseline. Must be able to translate the Chief Engineer's direction and complex architectural concepts into actionable tasks for the engineering team and clear briefings for leadership. The role requires seamless collaboration with the Program Office Chief Engineer, acting as their key deputy for architectural matters. Education: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science). Experience: Years of progressive systems engineering and architecture experience. o Demonstrated experience with large-scale DoD system sustainment and modernization. o Proven experience in mission engineering or early-stage capabilities development. o Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and the roles defined in DAFI 63-101. o Prior supervisory or team lead experience is highly desirable. - Training/Certifications: o DAWIA Advanced certification in Engineering and Technical Management (ETM) Practitioner. o Masters in Technology Management or Software Development desirable. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Strategic technical leadership skills and expertise. 2. In-depth knowledge of program planning, budget and financial management cycles and policies. 3. Ability to gather, analyze, and present complex facts and develop programming and budgetary strategies. 4. Ability to identify problems, develop and implement innovative detailed strategies to resolve a wide range of programming, budgetary, financial and management issues. 5. In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture & digital engineering methods, processes and tools. 6. Ability to interpret and apply fiscal policy and financial rules, regulations, and procedures. 7. Cyber-resilient range instrumentation architecture management skills and expertise 8. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 9. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including field-level representatives. 10. Ability to advise senior leaders, Program Element Monitors and field command level representatives.
