CHESS/ ESG - Data Analyst

Main Purpose of role:

Reporting to the Global Head of Sustainability Reporting & CHESS Systems the CHESS Data Analyst:

  • Provides hands-on coordination, validation, and systems support for CHESS and ESG data across all operating companies and divisions.
  • Acts as the operational link between site teams, regional CHESS leads, and Group Sustainability to ensure data integrity, completeness, and assurance readiness.
  • Responsible for day-to-day data management, heavy-lifting system operations, and user engagement within the Intelex platform and related tools.
  • Supports assurance reviews, system improvements, and digital optimisation of the ESG data model across the Group.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for managing and coordinating responses to external ESG questionnaires

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Collection and Validation

  • Coordinate and track ESG / CHESS data submissions from operating companies and divisions.
  • Validate inputs for accuracy and compliance with Group data standards.
  • Manage version control, documentation, and evidence logs to ensure auditability.
  • Follow up with sites and functions to close data gaps and resolve anomalies.
     

2. System Management and Improvement

  • Provide day-to-day support for Intelex—user administration, workflows, and troubleshooting.
  • Support ongoing system enhancement and configuration updates, contributing user feedback and testing.
  • Help develop automated dashboards and data visualisations using Qlik Sense or Power BI.
  • Participate in building and streamlining internal CHESS data solutions and integrations.
     

3. Assurance Support and Evidence Management

  • Support assurance queries from Group Accounting and external auditors by providing data extracts, clarifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain organised, traceable evidence files for all key ESG metrics.
  • Work with the Data Reporting Manager to ensure the data assurance process operates smoothly and efficiently.
     

4. Stakeholder and Relationship Management

  • Build collaborative relationships with operating companies, divisional CHESS leads, and functional teams to ensure timely, high-quality data.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operational data queries and Intelex user assistance.
  • Support training and awareness sessions to improve data ownership and confidence at site and divisional levels.
     

5. Continuous Improvement and Analytics

  • Identify and recommend practical improvements to data capture processes and system workflows.
  • Contribute to periodic data quality reviews and internal performance dashboards.
  • Support pilots and rollouts of automation and reporting enhancements.
     

6. ESG Questionnaires

  • Co-ordinate completion of external ESG questionnaires
  • Administer data collection, gathering information, validating accuracy, and securing necessary approvals
  • Streamline and automate processes reducing manual effort across the response cycle
     

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3–6 years’ experience in data coordination, ESG reporting, or management systems within a corporate or industrial environment.
  • Experience using Intelex; knowledge of Qlik Sense or Power BI desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and documentation discipline.
  • Effective communicator with ability to coordinate across global teams and manage multiple deadlines.
