Job Description:
Location: Standard work location in Milton Keynes + Client site (initial training period)
Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Training Requirement: Must be flexible to attend Client on‑site training (Southend) for up to 3 months (Monday–Friday, away from home – costs are covered)
We are seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Cheque Processing Clerk to join our newly established team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing a high volume of cheques, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the smooth flow of funds through efficient financial data handling. Full training will be provided.
Accurately process a high volume of cheques in line with internal procedures.
Enter cheque information into financial systems and databases.
Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing reports to system balances.
Investigate and resolve cheque‑processing issues or discrepancies.
Ensure timely and efficient movement of funds.
Adhere to all financial regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
Maintain well‑organized and accurate records.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation tasks.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers to support smooth operational workflows.
Strong data entry accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
Banking experience is preferred but not essential — full training is provided.
Flexibility to attend on‑site training at the client’s location for up to 3 months.
Ability to work away from home, Monday to Friday, during the training period.
