Job Title: Chemical Mixer

  • Chemical Mixer is responsible for preparing chemical solutions and reagents according to established formulas, batch records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role supports production operations by ensuring accurate measurements, safe chemical handling, and consistent product quality for manufacturing processes at Richard-Allan Scientific LLC.
  • The position operates during 1st shift production hours and works closely with manufacturing and quality teams to meet production and safety standards.

Location: This is an on-site position based in Kalamazoo, MI.

What you will do:

  • Measure, weigh, and mix various chemical ingredients according to batch records, formulas, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Operate and maintain mixing equipment, including blenders, agitators, and pumps, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
  • Monitor mixing processes, including temperature, pH, and specific gravity, making adjustments as necessary to meet specifications.
  • Perform in-process quality checks and document results accurately.
  • Handle and store chemicals safely, following all company safety guidelines, OSHA regulations, and material safety data sheet (MSDS) instructions.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all materials used, quantities mixed, and production data.
  • Identify and report any discrepancies in raw materials, equipment malfunctions, or quality issues to a supervisor.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the mixing area and equipment.
  • Participate in inventory management of raw materials and finished solutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and quality standards, including ISO guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–2 years of experience in chemical mixing, batching, or related manufacturing or production environments, preferably in regulated industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or medical device manufacturing
  • Experience following written work instructions, batch records, formulas, or standard operating procedures (SOPs) in a production or laboratory setting
  • Experience performing basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and unit conversions, for material measurements or batch preparation
  • Experience operating mixing or batching equipment and using measurement tools such as scales, pH meters, hydrometers, or similar laboratory or manufacturing instruments
  • Experience documenting production activities, batch records, or quality checks in manufacturing or laboratory environments preferred
  • Experience working in environments following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, or regulated production standards preferred
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during production activities

The hiring range for this position is: $20 - $29/hour, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
