Overview
Responsible for accessing and entering charges for charge capture initiatives for Emergency Departments. Applies accurate charging procedures/protocols to ensure that all billable charges are captured and is responsible for accurately processing patient charges and ensuring that procedures are billed accurately. Maintains work queues for assigned areas and works with all levels of team members to resolve any issues relating to charge capture.
What you will do
- Monitors charge capture and charge reconciliation for all specialty areas.
- Works with assigned clinical departments to ensure a complete and accurate charge capture is reflected in the clinical documentation.
- Monitors and work account work queues.
- Identifies any trends in charges. Communicates issues with the leadership.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, will count as 1 year of additional experience (Preferred) or
- Masters Degree, will count as 1 year of additional experience (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 years Charge Capture or Outpatient Coding (Required)
- 2 years Knowledge in HCPCS, ICD-10 and CPT coding (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) (Preferred) or
- Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) (Preferred)
- CRCR - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) (Preferred)
