You will be working in Data & Analytics, more specifically in the Compliance & Experience IT Area. You will be at the forefront of delivering a great user experience by providing the User Interface and Access Management solutions for our data analytics platforms. You and your chapter members will be part of our Resource & Access Management (RaAM) squad.
You will use state of the art technologies both on-prem and in the public cloud. You will work in an international organization collaborating with teams in many other countries.
The team
We are looking for a Chapter Lead/Engineering manager to guide, coach, and support our team of Experience engineers. As Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for developing individual expertise within your chapter, fostering best practices, hiring and staffing and collaborating closely with cross-functional squads to ensure high-quality delivery. You will balance technical leadership with hands-on mentoring, shaping the direction of your chapter while supporting members in their career growth.
The ideal CL is someone with empathy, can create a safe environment for everyone, knows how to adjust communication so any message can be brought with respect, gets motivated by making also others successful and is curious and connect topics and people within the area.
You will work in the Enterprise Data Foundation & Compliance department within our Data&Analytics organization. You will join some 150 engineers with the mission to make banking in ING data driven. We do this by combining UX research and engineering with data science to deliver high value solutions and products for our organization. We work in a fun and creative environment, and we are dedicated to bringing out the best in both each other and our projects. We have offices in Amsterdam (primary office), Poland, Romania and India.
Roles and responsibilities
The CL part will be approx. 50% of your time; the other 50% will be hands-on contribution on delivering our solutions. You and your chapter members will be part of our Resource & Access Management (RaAM) squad. You will develop & maintain front-ends using React & back-ends using Go. All based on microservices/API’s, running on Kubernetes.
The responsibilities are as following:
Chapter Leadership: Build, coach, and inspire a team of Big Data Cloud engineers. Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation within the chapter of engineers with different technological backgrounds
Technical Excellence: Set and maintain standards for best practices, tools, and methodologies in the ExperienceChapter. Drive initiatives to improve technical quality, scalability, and maintainability
Talent Development: Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and growth plans with chapter members. Identify individual strengths and support members in their career paths
Community Building: Foster a strong sense of community within the chapter by organizing knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and other opportunities for professional development
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business functions to ensure alignment on product goals, priorities, and strategies with those of your Chapter members
Communication: You can explain complicated subjects clearly to different audience
Environment shaping: You are friendly, empathetic and approachable and can challenge engineers in and out of your chapter
Curiosity: You are motivated to keep up to date with the latest developments and to introduce them to the team and projects where applicable

You are passionate about data-driven software solutions
You are competent in building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps

You have at least completed a technical HBO / bachelor’s degree, preferably computer science
You have at least 3 years’ experience in IT in a corporate environment

Strong programming skills in Go (or at least Java/Python)
Experience with building distributed, reactive applications.
Good understanding of databases, specially RDBMS.
Experience with message-oriented middleware e.g., Kafka.
Experience with ELK stack.
Experienced in front-end development with React or similar
Good understanding of Kubernetes
Good understanding of Microservices/API development
