Job Title: Chapter Lead Data Science – COO AI & Advanced Analytics CoE

The Chapter Lead – Data Science is a strategic and technically advanced Data Science leader within the COO AI & Advanced Analytics CoE. This position is designed for a seasoned expert who combines deep technical expertise with leadership in innovation, analytics enablement, and operational transformation. The role will drive the technical maturity of the CoE, uplift AI capabilities across operations, and deliver high-impact insights and solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end agentic AI solutions, embedding autonomous decision-making capabilities into operational workflows.
- Drive innovation in generative AI, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and safe deployment of LLM-based applications.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across the full lifecycle—design, implementation, deployment, and governance—ensuring robustness, explainability, and safety.
- Champion best practices in data science standards, including code quality, model governance, and operationalisation.
- Accelerate AI and analytics capability, delivery, and adoption across operations teams.
- Translate complex analytical findings into actionable business insights that enhance operational efficiency and risk management.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify and prioritise strategic challenges that can be addressed through analytics.
- Act as a role model and mentor for junior and mid-level data scientists, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Build strong relationships across the COO and analytics community to drive collaboration and shared outcomes.
- Lead exploration of new data sources and advanced modelling techniques to support fraud detection, operational insights, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain data governance standards and ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data science, AI, or machine learning roles, with a strong track record of technical leadership.
- Proven experience in deploying AI/ML solutions in production, including cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Deep understanding of the AI ecosystem, including:
• Agentic AI frameworks: Lang Chain, LangGraph, Crew AI, Auto Gen
• Observability and monitoring: Lang fuse, Prompt Layer
• Vector databases: FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate
• LLM orchestration: OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face Transformers
• ML Ops: ML flow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, SageMaker
• Prompt engineering and fine-tuning of foundation models
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; familiarity with R, SAS, SPSS, and cloud-based data pipelines.
- - Candidates with a research background in AI, machine learning, or data science will be preferred.
- Tertiary qualifications in a numerate, engineering, or IT-based discipline such as Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Actuarial Studies.
- Understanding of data engineering concepts and ML Ops practices.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Or Master’s degree in Computer Science.
