JOB SUMMARY
The Chaplain ministers to patients, families, and staff by providing appropriate spiritual services such as listening, pastoral counseling, ethical consultation and prayer regardless of the individual’s personal faith tradition. The individual participates in educational programs and organizational committees related to the Chaplain’s area of ministry and acts as a resource for physicians, staff, volunteers, and the larger faith community. The Chaplain helps promote and maintain an atmosphere of quality patient-centered care by providing personal presence, pastoral ministry, and in-service education.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Master’s degree in theological, ministerial, or related field. Must include two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or one unit and one year chaplain internship. Endorsement by Professional Chaplain Organization and/or Denominational Representative.
Preferred/Optional: None
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: One year of experience in chaplaincy.
Preferred/Optional: Three years of experience in chaplaincy in any healthcare setting.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: None. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
