Chaplains provide spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers, fostering spiritual resources for healing. Spiritual care is a component of healing, so meeting others where they are and helping them during troubled waters is a vital part of a Chaplain’s role.
This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m., and must be available for weekend coverage and 24/7 on-call duties.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide education and consultation for physicians, nurses and other caregivers.
Provide spiritual care and counseling for patients, families and caregivers of all faith groups, ages and conditions.
Foster spiritual resources for healing.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of at least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
One year of ministry experience
OR Bachelor’s degree, three years of ministry experience, satisfactory completion of one or two units of Clinical Pastoral Education and the expectation to get four CPEs within two years of hire may substitute the education and/or experience requirements
Certification as an Association of Clinical Pastor Education (ACPE educator) by a certifying organization or eligibility within two years
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master’s degree of Divinity or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push and facilitate movement of the patient.
Must have normal or correctable vision and hearing to be able to hear normal conversations.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
