Description:
Provides occupational therapy treatments to patients under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Documents patient treatment. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of MercyOne.
- Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, competently provides treatment to patients.
- Communicates relevant patient information.
- Provides education to patients and families.
- Supervises students and volunteers.
- Using his/her knowledge of the principles of growth and development and related needs, communicates and intervenes in a manner appropriate to the age of the patient served .
- Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- State of Iowa license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (if waiting to take the examination for the first time, may practice under the supervision of an Iowa- licensed OT for a period not to exceed 6 months from the date the application was received in the board office for licensure by examination).
- Valid Iowa driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) (Contract Therapy only).
- High language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to attend patients off-site in a timely manner.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
