Certified CS/SPD Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical and hospital tools. In this position, you help ensure patients have the best possible healthcare experience by providing caregivers with safe and sterile equipment. Along the way, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of the latest, state-of-the-art technologies and concepts. Come be part of a passionate family of caregivers and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families. 

 

A caregiver in this position works nights, from 11pm—7:30am (Sunday-Thursday).

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Be responsible for the safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case care management.  

  • Perform case pull functions.  

  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.  

  • Dispatch case carts to ensure they are available for surgical/clinical procedures.  

  • Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization, quality assurance and more.  

  • Order and stock supplies.  

  • Maintain adequate levels and inventory of supplies.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas 

  • A Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) 

  • Successful completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing 

  • Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks 

  • Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Basic computer skills 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.

  • Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.

  • Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
