General Purpose of Job:
Under the general supervision of the Central Supply Equipment Tech Supervisor, the central supply equipment technician is responsible for but not limited to the following: proper storage and distribution of patient care equipment used by departments, clinics, and nursing units throughout the Facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Always maintains the utmost level of confidentiality.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
- Use and be trained in the use of the MMIS system; able to search and find data within MMIS system.
- Ensure that all equipment in the centralized equipment room is plugged into electrical sources if applicable.
- Ensure that all equipment required repair is logged and taken to biomed for repair.
- Responsible for the return of rental equipment including calling vendor to pick up and maintain adequate records.
- Maintains consignment of inventory and ensures that all documentation related to the issuance of the equipment is complete and accurate. Also responsible for ensuring documentation is accurate and complete for new inventory being placed in the equipment room. (Example: Wound Vacs)
- Ensures that all equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to the manufacturer’s recommendations or central supply guidelines (Example: Using ONE SOURCE)
- Follows all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering, and handling equipment and supplies.
- Maintains the par levels on clinical units for all designated equipment in clean utility room.
- Checks, exchanges, and restock the crash carts.
- Will assist in obtaining supplies for customers from the warehouse distribution area and ensures that item(s) are expensed/issued in the MMIS system.
- Work with patient care areas in helping find lost/missing equipment.
- Track where equipment was last issued from the equipment room by entering description of equipment, date, time, serial number, and department where equipment was delivered.
- Track which department used their crash that needs to be restocked and issue replacement items to that department.
- Work with equipment representatives for updating equipment or implementing new equipment.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required, additional certification relevant to the job duties from a college or technical school preferred; minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
