SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The CS Processing Tech Apprentice works under the direct supervision of the Central Processing Supervisor. This position is responsible for accurately receiving and processing reusable supplies and equipment.  Decontaminates, prepares/assembles and packages patient care equipment, scopes, instruments trays, basin sets, prepares and packages linen packs; sterilizes and stores reusable linen packs, instrument trays, basin sets, etc.; prepares surgical case carts.  Operates sterilizers and decontamination equipment. Performs required quality monitoring tasks.  Operates the instrument tracking system throughout all processing and distribution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must acquire CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) within one year of employment. 
  • Must be able to pass a color vision test.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must pass skills test.
