JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Central Processing oversees and guides the performance of Central Processing Supervisors to ensure adherence to agency rules, statutes, policies, and procedures while promoting an environment of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. This role emphasizes strategic leadership, operational excellence, and employee development. The manager will perform supervisory functions including assigning and reviewing work, performance reviews, making recommendations on disciplinary actions, providing training and development, and approving time off. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic directions to Central Processing Supervisors, aligning their priorities with division and commission objectives.
- Act as a liaison between supervisors and senior management to ensure clear communication, strategic alignment, and smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with division leadership, offering regular updates, addressing challenges, and suggesting improvements.
- Supervise daily operations, including assigning tasks, conducting performance reviews, recommending disciplinary actions, and managing time-off approvals.
- Serve as a point of escalation for operational and personnel issues, offering guidance and resolution.
- Maintain an active presence with supervisors and teams to offer support and foster engagement.
- Regularly assess supervisor performance, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for growth and development.
- Promote professional development and mentorship to ensure supervisors feel supported and motivated.
- Foster equitable management practices that improve transparency, employee morale, and engagement.
- Collaborate with supervisors to optimize workflows, enhancing efficiency and accuracy using team input.
- Identify and implement innovative tools, software, and processes, particularly in tax processing.
- Encourage cross-departmental collaboration to maximize resource use and improve operational effectiveness.
- Oversee the development and execution of training programs, ensuring staff are well-equipped and cross-trained.
- Support supervisors in maintaining up-to-date training documentation and procedure manuals.
- Ensure section processes and priorities align with policies, procedures, and overall strategic goals.
- Monitor deadlines, resource allocation, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Proactively address risks and ensure staff training on maintaining a safe and lawful environment.
- Review and consolidate supervisor reports to assess performance, spot trends, and drive improvement strategies.
- Evaluate reporting practices for accuracy and suggest improvements to streamline decision-making and enhance service.
- Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative environment that fosters teamwork, open communication, and shared success.
- Lead by example in innovation, accountability, and a customer-focused approach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of:
- A Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in supervisory or leadership roles.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in production environment.
- Project management.
- Knowledge of State and Local Tax regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels, with or without aids. Ability to communicate clearly. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Travel may be required for this position. Applicants may need to have reliable transportation and be willing and able to perform all job-related travel. Possession and maintenance of a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License is also required.
A willingness to work additional hours, including overtime, during peak periods of the tax season to meet deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Oklahoma Tax Commission’s normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. This schedule may require minor flexibility based on the needs of the agency.
The primary work location will be on-site at the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Occasionally, telework may be requested based on the needs of the agency, division, and section. If applicable, applicant must be willing and able to work on-site with occasional telework at an off-site location, generally in the applicant’s home. To work remotely, an applicant must have a secure internet connection and a dedicated telephone (landline) or smart phone device during scheduled working hours.
