As the Central AME leader in India, this global role will build global capability to support regional technology projects, have responsibility for the Packaging Center of excellence, lead the licensing software delivery in our global factories, and industrialization of key technologies to enable high-impact production solutions. You will lead a high-performing global team of engineers dedicated to delivering innovative, sustainable, and customer-focused solutions. This pivotal role is responsible for shaping and executing the strategic vision for packaging design and optimization across the enterprise. By collaborating closely with business leaders, manufacturing, service, logistics, installation, and sourcing teams, you will drive initiatives that generate measurable cost savings, enhance product quality, and foster breakthrough innovation. Your leadership will be instrumental in transforming the Central AME team and managing both customers and internal stakeholders.

This role demands a dynamic blend of strategic foresight and hands-on execution to lead enterprise-wide initiatives, including packaging design and optimization. As a global leader, you will define and execute packaging strategies, mobilize cross-functional teams, and deliver results through disciplined project management. Your guidance will be central to efforts in material evaluation, safe and sustainable packaging design, testing and validation, and the development of solutions that ensure defect-free deliveries across all inbound and outbound channels.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy and execution plans as a leader on the staff of the Central Advanced Manufacturing Technology organization. Areas of responsibility include the global packaging team, configuration and licensing delivery team, industrializing additive technologies in region, and developing supporting manufacturing and technology expertise in India.

  • Lead Advanced Manufacturing team in the Asia Pacific Region.

  • Lead the global packaging team across people, processes, and systems to meet cost, damage, sustainability, and logistics goals – including managing all projects to meet commitments.

  • Define and track productivity metrics to ensure team efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement and systemic performance with global/local teams.

  • Develop scalable, sustainable packaging roadmaps and platforms.

  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, sourcing, logistics, and quality.

  • Partner with internal teams and suppliers to accelerate innovation and cost savings.

  • Oversee team performance, development, and engagement.

  • Build and mentor a high-performing packaging engineering team.

  • Manage team priorities, assignments, and corrective actions.

  • Provide hands-on technical support for packaging design and legacy systems.

  • Monitor industry trends and sustainability developments for application.

  • Lead initiatives to reduce waste and carbon footprint through innovative packaging.

  • Guide development of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging aligned with project timelines.

  • Implement packaging life cycle analysis and sustainability benchmarking tools.

  • Support global packaging project funnels and governance boards.

  • Stay current on emerging technologies and eco-friendly materials.

  • Maintain expertise in packaging materials, manufacturing, and global regulations.

  • Own data strategy for regulatory reporting of packaging materials.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials, handling, and logistics.

  • Ensure compliance with GEHC and global packaging regulations.

  • Integrate packaging early in NPI to optimize logistics and reduce damage.

  • Align with cross-functional teams to develop safe, damage-mitigating packaging.

  • Champion the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle—for sustainability and cost efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Packaging Engineering, or related field

  • 15+ years in packaging, including program/project leadership with business impact

  • 5+ years managing teams with proven strategic and productivity results

  • Experience leading packaging engineers and technical staff

  • Knowledge of global packaging regulations (EU, India, etc.)

  • Proficient in ISO, ASTM, ISTA standards

  • Understanding of global transport modes: surface, air, ocean

  • Skilled in packaging optimization and cost-effective material selection

  • Advanced expertise in packaging technologies and manufacturing processes

  • Strong background in safety, risk mitigation, and change management

  • Strategic thinker with sound decision-making skills

  • Effective in leading cross-functional teams and aligning stakeholders

  • Strong negotiation, influence, and communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in a technical field

  • 5+ years in packaging large, heavy electronic products

  • Experience with shipping dollies, cranes, lift systems, and material handling equipment

  • Certified in hazardous materials shipping: Surface (49 CFR), Air (IATA), Ocean (IMDG)

  • Familiarity with global material handling practices for large products

  • Proven ability to design and implement cross-product packaging processes

  • Certified in Six Sigma DMAIC & DFSS

  • Strong knowledge of PRD milestones

  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)
