Job Summary: This vacancy is for a Special Census Field Manager (CFM) position for the U.S. Census Bureau, Chicago Regional Office, in the Special Census Office located in: Yorkville, IL This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Special Census Field Manager (CFM), AD-00, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Major Duties:

  • Maintains effective public relations with the community within the office boundaries, such as the local news media, community leaders and organizations, and local government officials. Resolves community complaints concerning problems in the Field to assure a timely and efficient Special Census operation. Provides group and individual training; monitors daily assignments; and provides advice and guidance to subordinate staff. Maintains and oversees workflow timelines for work performed in the Field operation.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: You must have one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Census Field Manager (CFM). Experience for this position includes supervising, training and delegating work to subordinates; overseeing and providing guidance directly to staff; working in a team environment to negotiate with others in order to secure support from multiple businesses and organizations; communicating with diverse populations; setting priorities; developing, monitoring, and/or analyzing detailed program/project requirements and implementation schedules; reviewing cost, quality, and progress reports. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
