The Scientist works in a cross-functional team to provide product care support and, when needed, to improve established and commercialized CDx devices, reagents/protocols. The Scientist works closely with other experts in R&D, project management, business development and operations, clinical science, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and quality assurance to maintain Agilent companion diagnostics as accurate, robust, and precise assays.
The Companion Diagnostic Group is seeking a Scientist who will work in a cross-functional team to support product care and improve established CDx reagents/protocols. This role ensures Agilent’s companion diagnostics remain accurate, robust, and precise assays.
Key Responsibilities
Experiment Planning & Execution: Design and run experiments to support product care and improve CDx reagents/protocols.
Compliance: Maintain electronic lab notebook records and adhere to GLP and Quality Systems
Scientific Leadership: Act as Scientific Lead on internal/external project teams.
Literature & Trends: Review scientific literature, monitor CDx and targeted therapy trends, engage with KOLs, and publish findings.
Documentation: Write/review product instructions, protocols, technical reports, and regulatory-compliant documentation.
Collaboration: Work with R&D, clinical science, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, QA, and external partners.
Resource Management: Support resource planning, allocation, and cost control.
Quality & Risk: Contribute to risk management, human factors engineering, and process improvements.
Presentations: Deliver internal/external presentations as needed.
Additional Activities
Product care activities and troubleshooting.
Performance testing of IHC and FISH assays.
Improve immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and molecular biology-based assays.
Drive projects to meet scope, cost, quality, and timeline milestones.
Work Model
This is a hybrid opportunity, and the candidate in this position will work onsite, 3 days a week, from the Carpinteria location. , and 2 days remote. Please note, the position may be required to be on-site as the business needs.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline; advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) preferred.
4+ years of experience in a laboratory or regulated medical device/pharmaceutical environment.
Proven ability to plan projects and design/execute experiments independently.
Solid understanding of histology, pathology, and design control principles.
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in at least one biology technique (e.g., immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, fluorescence methods, protein biochemistry); cell and molecular biology experience is a plus.
Strong analytical, quantitative data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work with speed and focus.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
