Role Title: IRAP Assessor

Role Description: 
We are seeking a technically strong CDS Specialist to support a sovereign Defence capability project at Edinburgh. This role involves providing SME input on Cross Domain Solutions, supporting secure system design, and contributing to governance, assurance, and risk management activities. For the right candidate, we offer a supported pathway to become an ASD-endorsed IRAP Assessor.
This role aligns with ASD’s Fundamentals of Cross Domain Solutions, which outlines the principles for secure data transfer between security domains. CDS implementations must enforce appropriate controls, align with the ISM, and support mission-critical Defence operations.

Role Description:

Core responsibilities:
- Provide SME advice on CDS architecture, integration, and security posture
- Support Architectural Reviews and Secure-by-Design assessments
- Contribute to A&A activities, PoAM development, and risk mitigation
- Engage with Defence stakeholders (RAAF, DSTG, BAE) and security bodies (ASD, ASIO, DCIAB)
- Assist in developing Decision Briefs, TSBs, and CCPs
- Represent CoA interests in vendor and contractor engagements
- Identify and escalate blockers to maintain project momentum


Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience with Cross Domain Solutions in Defence or national security contexts
- Strong understanding of ICT infrastructure, network security, and system integration
- NV1 clearance (minimum), with ability to upgrade to NV2
- Australian Citizenship with AUSTEO and ITAR eligibility
- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent technical qualification
- Willingness to pursue IRAP Assessor certificatio


Desirable Requirements:
- Familiarity with ISM, PSPF, DSPF, and cyber maturity models (e.g., C2M2)
- Experience in managed engineering programs within Defence
- Broad technical experience across Windows, Linux, virtualisation, and containerisation
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and Security-as-a-Service (SecAAS) practices
- Professional memberships (AISA, Engineers Australia, AICD)
- Collaborative, solutions-focused working style


This role operates within a dynamic, high-tempo project environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in complex, fast-paced settings, preferably within Defence or similarly regulated sectors, and a willingness to adapt and contribute flexibly as required.

Required Security Clearance Level: NV1 with ability to upgrade to NV2

Location: Edinburgh

Weekly Hours: 80 hour flexible fortnight
