CD&A - Director, Forecasting

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Director Forecasting will lead the forecasting efforts for several brands and therapeutic areas within the Amgen Portfolio. They will lead a team of hard-working individuals to develop unbiased long-term forecasts for Global pipeline assets.

The individual in this role will need to be resourceful in influencing and challenging a diverse set of partners (Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, and Pricing/Contracting), as well as be proficient in understanding the nuances of each business they are helping to manage.

The Director will develop a strong team and sense of forecast community, while serving as an excellent mentor and developer of talent. Additionally, the Director will also train on technical aspects of forecasting, as well as be able to explain how the other functions within CD&A (Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Analytics, and Data) play a role in the forecast.

The ability to draw upon a deep set of experiences and apply them to the questions being asked is crucially important in order to act as a strategic thought partner to the brand.

This position reports to the AVP CD&A.

Flexible Commuter role to the Thousand Oaks, CA or Deerfield, IL office. You will work on-site a minimum of 2-3 days a week.

  • Lead teams of forecasters to deliver high-quality performance predictions to Commercial business leaders across Amgen’s pipeline portfolio assets
  • Collaborate closely with business partners across Commercial, Operations and Finance
  • Instill, and reflect, a strong dedication to quality and standards – both in the underlying forecast methodologies and forecast presentations. Ensures final products are well vetted and reliable
  • Exhibit expertise in solving various structured and unstructured problems through relevant analytical approaches and frameworks
  • Strive for consistency in the way forecasts are approached, developed, and presented
  • Thought leader for the Forecasting capability who will encourage broad adoption of best practices, deploy appropriate guardrails, quality monitoring and drive use of new methods and tools
  • Primary point of contact for senior Therapeutic Area leaders to engage with forecasting
  • Balance demands from in-line and pipeline assets across business units and therapeutic areas
  • Drive productivity and efficiency, streamlining forecasting processes where possible

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of forecasting and/or commercial insights experience

OR

Master’s degree and 7 years of forecasting and/or commercial insights experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of forecasting and/or commercial insights experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Biopharma industry experience
  • Leadership experience in building and developing hard-working teams, delivering results and shaping the future
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence SVP/EVP level staff
  • Aligns team to best practices and champions new innovative methodologies and tools
  • Eye for business that lends itself to understanding the context and dynamics of pharmaceutical markets for relevant disease areas
  • Partners with business leaders to deliver high-quality predictions that guide strategic decision-making
  • Oral, written and presentation skills to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences including senior management
  • Ability to lead and manage projects from concept to completion
  • Quick learner, proactive, takes initiative

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Salary Range

210,124.00 USD - 243,854.00 USD
