Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Casual Technical Professional to join our team. This role is designed for a seasoned engineer with a deep, hands-on background in the design, development, and integration of solid rocket motors. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of leading engineering teams, providing technical guidance, and supporting complex propulsion system initiatives. This part-time, flexible position provides a unique opportunity to apply years of engineering expertise to solve some of our toughest propulsion challenges and contribute meaningfully to critical programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in and provide technical leadership for efforts involving the design, development, analysis, evaluation, and testing of solid rocket motors.
- Offer expert guidance and actionable recommendations to engineering teams, ensuring high-quality technical results that meet program objectives.
- Review and evaluate data while assessing problem-solving approaches across various aspects of solid rocket motor programs.
- Actively collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in engineering, manufacturing, and program management to identify and resolve complex challenges.
- Leverage in-depth technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve highly technical issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related discipline).
- A minimum of 10+ years of direct experience in solid rocket motor design, development, manufacturing, and testing.
- Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate technical approaches and provide strategic recommendations to guide engineering efforts toward successful outcomes.
- Strong understanding of propulsion analysis, material selection, and solid rocket motor performance evaluation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and system integration for solid rocket motors.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with engineering tools and software, including CAD, FEA, or CFD systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards for propulsion development (e.g., NASA, DoD).
- Previous involvement in Northrop Grumman propulsion system programs or similar solid rocket propulsion initiatives.
Working Arrangement:
This is a flexible, casual, and part-time role designed to accommodate individual preferences and project timelines. The position includes in-person collaboration at our Corinne, Utah facilities, with potential hybrid flexibility as needed.

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,700.00 - $250,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
