Position Overview

The Category Manager supports the Sr. Category Manager in managing and optimizing the product category’s performance. This role involves being responsible for the setup of product specifications for Finishworx (Flooring Trims/Treads), Groundworx (Cushion & Underlayment), and Careworx (Cleaner & Floor Protection). The Category Manager works closely with various teams, including marketing, sales, sourcing, samples and supply chain, as well as suppliers to ensure the execution of successful product launches. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Establish and maintain all product specification information, ensuring accuracy of entry into the mainframe databases, while maintaining and communicating any corrections or changes to specifications to internal stakeholders and outside suppliers. 
  • Work with cross-functional partners (Corporate Sourcing, Samples, Product Development, Brands, Planning and Marketing, and Suppliers) to ensure all requirements are met for timely execution of product launches. 
  • Responsible for timely distribution & follow through of vendor blueprints required to accurately set products up in TTR. 
  • Maintain the stage-gate process to ensure timely flow of approvals and setup of products. 
  • Support SKU rationalization by collecting and reviewing data to track product life cycles and identify end‑of‑life recommendations. 
  • Responsible for ensuring dropped products are documented for internal & external partner notification of expected drop dates. 
  • Participate in trim reviews with Quality Control, Product Development, and Designers for color match approval. 
  • Evaluate the product assortment to identify improvement opportunities and necessary adjustments based on market and competitive insights. 
  • Handle inquiries & aid in problem solving in a timely manner for service & color issues for customers and sales force as they arise. 
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal planning teams to ensure product availability and timely delivery. 
  • Provide support and solutions to Customer Service, Quality Control, and other departments as needed.  
  • Responsible for working closely with the Samples Merchandising, Brand, and Sample vendors for sample creation and to ensure sample availability for Totalworx products that offer sample vehicles. 
  • Process & submit requisitions for supplier reconciliation via PeopleSoft 
  • Contribute to process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline, automate, or enhance existing workflows. 

Qualifications: 

  • College degree is preferred; High School Diploma is required. 
  • Minimum (2) years of flooring experience is required 
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written 
  • Ability to utilize relevant technology - proficiency in M365, TTR, Vista, PeopleSoft, EBX, Tableau, Microsoft BI, Widen, PDMS, Salesforce, Fusion 
  • Proven ability to deal professionally and confidently daily while building collaborative relationships with internal and external partners at various levels. 
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, take initiative, ownership, and accountability with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and honor commitments.  
  • Ability to think through problems to identify root cause issues and resolutions.
