This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on-site from our Ottawa Head Office, on Walkley Road 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Thursday and could be asked to come onsite for additional days as per business needs.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Execute the tactical elements as detailed in the Business Plan for a specific category (Pet), that will drive traffic, sales and margin
Execute the category plan, source and negotiate effectively, to maintain price leadership, drive sustainable growth, and be customer focused that ensures we remain relevant to both our existing and our target customer.
Source everyday and seasonal assortments that will deliver to the objectives of the business strategy. Take action, in season as required to ensure objectives are achieved, applying the urgency required to meet timelines and impact results
Complete regular category reviews, following the timelines as established on the buying calendar, aligning to the Business Plan and ensuring to incorporate elements of our customer value proposition
Source an assortment that will drive profitable Private Brand penetration, sales, and margin, and that customer's will engage with driving loyalty and trust.
Profitably source, negotiate and bring to market a customer focused assortment, while adhering to all quality, safety, and regulatory standards for all products sourced for Giant Tiger.
Develop an effective Communication standard for Stores that will drive engagement, excitement, and alignment in assortment strategy to improve support and overall results
What You’ll Bring
3-5 years of grocery buying experience, managing large portfolios;
Postsecondary education
Strong negotiation skills and an understanding of the finesse and subtle nuances needed in negotiating large accounts;
Understanding of the importance of analysis and planning; can organize, prioritize and delegate in a challenging multi-tasking environment;
Communication skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a good listener, good communicator and solid presentation skills;
Ability to manage, and motivate a team. Lead by example with a great work ethic, initiative and passion for the job;
Computer skills: Primarily Excel, Word and a solid Process Management mind-set to pick up on our proprietary I.S. systems;
Bilingualism (English & French), an asset;
Related JDA AS400 computer systems experience, an asset;
Private Label or Store Brands experience, an asset.

$84,200.00 - $126,300.00Short Term Incentive Plan

Competitive Compensation: The salary range for this position is listed above. Giant Tiger will consider factors such as experience, skills and internal equity to ensure you are paid competitively.
Short Term Incentive Plan: This role includes an annual bonus opportunity based on the percentage of base salary listed above, with payout determined by company and individual performance.
Retirement Support: This role is eligible for company-funded retirement savings, with contributions made on your behalf. The specific retirement program and contribution level are noted above.
