The opportunity:
The MV and LV protection and control Category Manager (CM) ensures the definition and execution of sourcing strategies for categories related to MV and LV protection and control, securing supply continuity, quality, and competitiveness. She/He combines deep market expertise with strategic supplier management to align internal needs and business objectives. The role includes: driving standardization initiatives, maintaining accurate supplier mapping, and acting as a reference point for market insight.

She/He understand the market dynamics, trends and drivers as well as well as the associated risk and opportunities. She/He is recognised internally as an expert in the markets and shares insights to internal stake holders.
The CM builds and maintains comprehensive supplier mapping for each of the categories or potentially subcategories when relevant, deliver a supplier orientation chart with a clear classification in front of every subcategory. The CM has a clear understanding of current and future needs within the Grid Automation business, Hitachi Energy, and the broader Hitachi Group.
Conduct regular reviews with R&D and Customer Projects teams in the Hubs to Identify potential globalisation or standardisation initiatives. Standard part list to be defined and implemented in collaboration with Global Material Master (GMM) team to serve recurrent GA needs. (Auxiliary relays, MCB, protection switches, contactors), promote and ease the use of standardised parts and track adoption through procurements tools (project procure), align sourcing strategies with evolving business needs.
Maintain a detailed spend analysis by supplier down to category, subcategory and Manufacturer Part Number, know which teams and entities within Hitachi require which type of part.
For each category and sub-category, the CM defines, refines, defends, and maintains a sourcing strategy aligned with both current and future needs. This strategy ensures supply security, quality, and OTD performance, while securing competitiveness. Each category/subcategory is described and illustrated for ease of readiness, CM act as the gatekeeper for supplier creation in their Category, provide a Supplier Orientation Chart in which Each supplier is assigned a clear sourcing status in each category / subcategory.
The CM actively participates in global business reviews, the CM is responsible for consolidating and presenting an overview of future business opportunities to suppliers, ensuring alignment and transparency.
The Category Manager sets clear negotiation targets for the categories under their responsibility, aligned with strategic objectives and market benchmarks, the CM actively supports negotiation discussions by contributing deep market knowledge and insights specific to Hitachi’s positioning and needs. Following the negotiation phase, CM Validate business awards to suppliers.
Provide Contract templates tune to its category, support/lead contractual discussion, prepare the Contracts with the suppliers for the category, subcategory.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:
You should have a degree in Electrical engineering with Industry experience of 10 years in project business.
Candidate should have strong technical background related to Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) protection and control systems, complemented by experience in supply chain management or, more broadly, business management.
A solid understanding of the market and its key suppliers is essential.
The Electrical Protection CM has deep expertise in the relevant associated markets (MV and LV Relays, circuit breaker, contactors and other electrical protection elements).
In-depth technical knowledge of MV and LV protection and control products and their applications.
Deep knowledge of major manufacturers and their offerings.
Ability to bridge technical expertise with business acumen to drive strategic decisions.
Good communication skills.
