Category Development Manager – Consumer Business Group (m/f/*)

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Category Development Manager for the Consumer Business Group covering the North Europe Region, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Serve as the Category expert for Scotch™, Postit®, ScotchBrite® and 3M Safety across the North Europe region, with strong knowledge of products, competitors, and key market trends in each defined category.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Serve as the category expert with deep understanding of products, competitors, and key market trends across each defined category.

  • Provide comprehensive category insight to guide portfolio positioning, capability development, and growth opportunities, ensuring 3M portfolios remain relevant and differentiated within category plans.

  • Guide Area portfolio direction to enable effective regional channel or account‑specific execution aligned with category priorities.

  • Define category strategy and develop clear, actionable playbooks that drive growth through targeted portfolios, programs, and campaigns.

  • Communicate category strategies to channel and shopper teams, while representing regional market intelligence and portfolio needs to the Area portfolio teams.

  • Proactively monitor category‑related trends and innovations, analyse research and insights, and integrate findings into strategic plans to articulate a compelling category narrative for internal and external stakeholders.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

  • Degree qualification in Marketing, Sales, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Experience in Channel, Category, and/or Sales & Marketing roles.

  • Proven ability to develop strategic plans and effectively guide others in implementing those strategies.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including confident presentation abilities to support successful program execution.

  • Ability to prioritise effectively and make sound decisions within your area of responsibility.

  • Skilled in using data‑driven storytelling to influence both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Recognised as a collaborative team player and contributor.

  • Proficiency in English is essential.

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Solid understanding of 3M’s businesses, technologies, and organisational culture, or the ability to navigate and collaborate effectively within a complex matrix organisation.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Excellent communication abilities.

  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.

Job specifics:

  • This position will be responsible for customers within the North Europe Region

  • Candidates can be located in either UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland

  • Travel expectations – Depending on candidate location, may include up to 20% domestic/international

  • This role has on-site working model, with the employee working at least four days a week in the relevant country office.

  • Working pattern - full time
