Category Buyer

The holder of the position is responsible to put in place and execute a purchasing strategy for all current and new parts belonging to his/her portfolio. He/she should manage parts under his responsibility with a help and support from his/her Category Manager/Direct Supervisor, within a frame of SCM business plan and use his/her creativity bringing with new methods material performance to the SCM overall result.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate all commercial terms with suppliers to drive year over year material cost improvement to meet/exceed functional objectives

  • Create, issue and maintain frame contracts with the supplier base according SCM policies and procedures. Make sure that the negotiated conditions are implemented in the sites. Consider quality, Service (PC&L), Technology, Price and Timing of needed products.

  • Collect all information including, volumes, prices, spec. other conditions for new projects as well as for all other running projects. He uses this information as a basis for his purchasing strategy and communicates this information to the finally selected supplier base.

  • Supports the PLPL in identifying development suppliers for new programs.

  • Monitor quality of his/her suppliers and support Supplier Development Group with problematic suppliers.

  • Develop for his/her Category a supplier rationalization plan and identify strategic Suppliers on Quality, Service, Technology and Price.

  • Monitor market conditions for all cost drivers for his/her category (raw material, labor cost, logistics and freight, currency exchange) to adapt it in respective purchasing strategy, anticipate repercussions for the business, generate performance or build and implement mitigation plan,

  • Use the SCM network and cooperate with Global Category Team, for preparing bidder lists and out of them request for quotations (RFQ).

  • Plan, execute and monitor sourcing process for respective portfolio to ensure alignment with key programs requirements and customer milestones (cost, quality, timing). Support colleagues in SCM during their bidder list and RFQ process.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree from commercial or/and technical university, preferred mechanical/chemical/technical background

  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience,

  • Strong negotiation skills and excellent communication skills

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

  • Highly motivated / capable of operating with minimal guidance

  • Strategic planning and execution

  • Good knowledge of MS Office

  • English speaking
