Not your average retailer, Salvos Stores is made up of a team of changemakers who are passionate about raising funds to help The Salvation Army provide over one million sessions of care to disadvantaged Australians each year through an extensive network of over 360 retail stores, as well as online.
About the role
As a casual Sales Assistant you will be passionate about creating positive change for our customers and the wider community. You will support the relevant Store Manager with day-to-day operations in stores across suburbs in and around Northern Brisbane.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Retail General Industry Award, Level 1. Shift hours will predominately be allocated on Fridays and Saturdays between 9.00am-5.00pm.
How you will make an impact
Operate POS systems and handle cash transactions accurately
Manage fitting rooms, including monitoring busy queues and processing large volumes of items efficiently.
Sort and return high volumes of stock to the shop floor in line with store processes and standards
Maintain a clean, organised, and visually appealing shop floor.
Support the store manager with theft prevention and loss minimisation
Contribute to a safe and secure environment for customers, volunteers and team members.
What you will bring
Demonstrated experience in retail sales, while highly regarded, is not essential.
A high level of physical fitness, with the ability to walk up to 20,000 steps per shift.
The ability to work at a fast pace while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong initiative and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Resilience and confidence in managing challenging customer interactions in a calm and professional manner
A proactive and goal orientated mindset
Capability to safely lift and move items up to 20kgs, including furniture and large stock loads.

This position will require physical ability to safely stand, sit, walk regularly and for long periods of time. Some responsibilities require the Sales Assistant to safely push, pull, lift, carry and restrain stock/furniture, climb ladders. This will all be in line with WHS policies and procedures.
