About This Opportunity 

We’re seeking a motivated Animal/Barn Attendant to support the care and wellbeing of animals at the Gatton Research Dairy. This entry-level opportunity offers hands-on experience, on-the-job training and the chance to grow your skills in a supportive team that’s committed to making a real impact in the dairy industry. Weekend work is essential for this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Help maintain safe, clean and well-run animal facilities

  • Support daily animal care, including feeding, milking and welfare checks

  • Assist staff and students during examinations and treatments

  • Contribute to general farm operations such as fencing and cattle handling

  • Operate University vehicles including UTVs, tractors and Utes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, values teamwork, and wants to build a meaningful career in animal and agricultural sciences.

About You

  • Completion of Year 10

  • Queensland open driver’s license (class C)

  • Physically capable of carrying out duties

  • Capacity to work in a team environment.

  • Capacity to relate well and communicate with a wide range of people including staff, students, clients and outside suppliers.

  • Understand the value of excellent client service.

  • Care and compassion for animals.

Desirable

  • A current HR licence

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Previous experience with cattle.

The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, right to work in Australia and mandatory immunisation.
